Fun Places To Take Your Dog Near Epsom, NH

Posted at Mon, Mar 13, 2017 12:15 PM

Our team at Tim’s Truck Capital & Auto Sales loves spending as much time as possible with our dogs. And we love finding out about new places to with them. Thanks to Bring Fido for some new suggestions that we’d like to share with you.

Hooksett Dog Park

Just 19 minutes from Epsom, Hooksett Dog Park has two off-leash fenced play areas—one for small dogs and one for large dogs. You’ll find lots of playmates for your dog on weekends. Dogs are allowed to swim off the boat ramp, though a leash is recommended because of the current. In the winter, the dogs love playing in the snow.

Also nearby, the Hooksett Rail Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is creating an extensive network of trails made on the beds of abandoned rail lines. The Hooksett Rail Trail was an unused railroad corridor that has been made into a great place to take your dog for a walk.

A little farther away is Benedictine Park in Bedford NH, 33 minutes from Epsom. Its 27 acres are ideal for cross country skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, walking, hiking, picnicking and birdwatching. The Bedford Land Trust has developed two walking trails that are just under a mile. The Perimeter Trail follows the edge of open fields and the Cobb Trail is woodland trail that parallels Riddle Brook after a moderately steep climb through the woods. Dogs are welcome in the park and on trails as long as they remain on leash.

Raymond’s Riverside Park, 29 miles from Epsom, is a one acre fenced dog park where dogs are free to play off-leash.

The Manchester Riverwalk, Terrill Park and Livingston Park are all fun places to take your dog in Manchester, about a 30 minute drive from Epsom.

The Manchester Riverwalk is one of the treasures of Manchester. It offers a two-mile paved trail along the Merrimack River where you and your pet can enjoy a nice stroll. The walkway is tree lined with beautiful views of the river below.

Terrill Park has lots of groomed trails in its 21 acres on the banks of the Merrimack River. The park also has a fenced in dog park where dogs can run off-leash.

Livingston Park has beautiful wooded trails where you can walk with your leashed dog. It’s not unusual to spot wildlife along this popular trail.

Derry Dog Park, 40 minutes from Epsom, is a fully fenced park that includes agility equipment and a separate area for small dogs. It also features tunnels and a doggie swimming pool in summer. In winter, dogs love playing in the snow.

The Morissette Trail is a 55 minute drive from Epsom, but it’s worth it.

You can hike 5.1 miles from the lowest to highest point in Mont Vernon, NH. 5.1 miles long. It will take an hour to an hour and a half to complete. If you want a shorter walk, you can drive 3.5 miles of the trail that is on Route 13 and Lamsam Rd. The pedestrian only trail is about 1.6 miles long through woods. The trail is hard-packed gravel. Keep your dog on a leash as the town of Mont Vernon has a leash law.
