2013 Chevy AvalancheChevrolet Avalanche Overview

This versatile pickup features an automatic transmission with smooth shifting and a sturdy 5.1-liter V-8 engine capable of 285 horsepower and 335 lb-ft of torque, resulting in a towing capacity of over 5,000 pounds. We think these specs will meet the needs of nearly every construction worker, landscaper, and camping enthusiast in our area, but if you have questions about just how much performance you can get out of these vehicles you can always call our friendly sales staff.

Sitting inside of this modern truck, you’ll realize the amount of attention Chevy engineers paid to the construction of these vehicles. Large windows give great outward vision and available safety features can help you with maneuvering into tight spots. The 2013 Avalanche model continues the bold look of previous models and boasts a cabin that emphasizes durability as much as it does comfortability. If you’re looking for a more elegant driving experience, the LTZ trim features an updated interior.

Following the lead of previous generations, the new Avalanche comes in 3 trim levels: LS, LT, and LTZ. As with other Chevrolet models, your available options for interior, exterior, technology, and safety packages increases as you move up trim levels. LT models in particular have exciting performance packages. LTZ models also offer comfort and convenience upgrades that include an enhanced display, premium seats, and more.

Handling and Performance

The 5.3-liter V-8 engine engine gives you enough power to enjoy hauling your gear along winding rural roads without worry and the smooth-shifting automatic transmission makes the drive a breeze. You can also opt for the Vortec 8.1-liter V-8 engine, boosting its performance potential to get 340 horsepower out of this sporty pickup. Meanwhile, the optional four-wheel drive can be added to top trim levels to make the most of your engine’s performance. This means you can get over 5,000 lbs towing capacity and 1.397 payload capacity, helping you conquer tough work in no time.

The Avalanche provides enough power and performance to make it both comparable other large, family-focused trucks and some could argue even more of a joy to drive, especially on long trips across the highway.

Technology

Smart controls and a wide dashboard should impress the driver, and everybody might admire the soft-touch surfaces and high-quality plastic materials that ensure durability.
As mentioned previously, a good variety of safety and technology upgrades are available across multiple trim levels, with your options expanding with the top trim levels.

Standard equipment is focused on providing ease of mind and easy entertainment for families. Canyon models include a modern infotainment system, adaptive cruise control, and adjustable seating. Automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, and other safety upgrades are available as upgrades for the LT and LTZ models.

Each trim level comes standard with the safety features you would expect on a truck meant for hard work, long commutes, and daily driving. Chevy wants your family to feel safe now matter where you go and we want the exact same. Chevy Avalanche Trim Levels

LS: the base model Avalanche includes seventeen-inch alloy wheels, durable cloth seating, power bucket seat for the driver, OnStar, an AM/FM stereo with single-disc CD/MP3 player and auxiliary audio input jack with six speakers, keyless entry, front and side airbags, traction control, StabiliTrak, and more. LT: the mid-level model Avalanche. It added power dual front bucket seats, remote start, XM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth hands-free telephone system, and exterior color-keyed door handles, tailgate handle, and side mirrors, wood interior trim, as well as other features. Optional packages include exterior upgrades and technology options. The LT is also available with a leather interior.

LTZ: the top-of-the-line model Avalanche. It added leather seating surfaces, security alarm, an AM/FM stereo with six-disc CD/MP3/DVD changer, an eight-speaker premium Bose CenterPoint amplified surround sound system, memory for the front driver's seat, twenty-inch polished alloy wheels and tires, and rear seat audio and video system controls, and the LTZ exclusive self-leveling Auto Ride suspension. It also adds twin-clutch all-wheel drive, driver assistance features, polished wheels, and adaptive cruise control.

Exterior

The Avalanche was built to provide rugged looks and performance with modern amenities. Drivers say the updated design of the Avalanche provides modern, sharp design while focusing on a family-oriented experience.

What’s the end result? A truck that tends to resemble an SUV more than it does other vehicles in its class, ditching graceful curves with sharpened lines on a rugged body. More upright than the previous-generation model, Chevy decided bolder was better as the new Avalanche also features a taller grille and a larger bowtie badge. Strong shoulder lines lead toward tightly angled tail lights, carrying the geometric profile all the way through the body of the vehicle. In other words, this truck will fit in just as well at the job site as it does on the trails.

Interior and Cargo Space

2013 Chevy AvalancheLooking into the Avalanche, it’s clear that providing plenty of cabin space was a priority for Chevrolet. Which means this truck promises comfortable riding space for adults across any of the three seating rows. Our customers ask this a lot, but even the third row of this truck offers enough room for adults. Meaning it's just as capable for running the kids to soccer practice as it is getting the guys together for a weekend outdoors.

Front seats promise comfort during long road trips and can fit drivers of a good variety of heights. We also know the second-row captain's chairs are popular with drivers in the area, especially when they can be heated. The second-row features more than 39 inches of legroom for passengers. Wide-swinging doors make it easy to get in the vehicle, cruise control makes it easy to get where you’re going, and the quiet cabin makes it easy to enjoy the ride.

With the midgate closed and the rear seats folded the Avalanche offers 54.3 cubic feet of interior cargo space, thanks to the 60/40 folding bench seat. When you put up the Avalanche's lockable tonneau cover for the truck bed, you will have about 47 cubic feet of secure cargo space in addition to the interior.
