Do you need to change your oil before a long trip?
While we do recommend you have your car checked out before a long trip, if the oil change interval doesn’t occur before the trip, it’s not necessary to change it just because you’re going on a long trip. However, if the oil is scheduled to be changed during the trip, it's a good idea to change it before you leave. I’ve put synthetic oil in my vehicle. Do I have to keep using it?
While this used to be the case, it is not any longer. These days, the line has been blurred between the two types of oil, because they are often blended. The only thing that’s important is that you are using the oil type specified in your owner’s manual. If you have questions, please ask.

Do I need to change my oil every three months or 3,000 miles?
Again, this was true years ago, but now most vehicles made after 2010 need an oil change approximately every 7,000 miles, depending on the climate, type of driving and other factors. Experts agree that the oil in today's cars needs to be changed at the designated intervals in the owner's manual or when the car's oil life monitor light appears. One reason the interval between changes has expanded is due to improvements in oil chemistry and engine technology.
